(BEDFORD, IN) - Testimony began yesterday in the murder trial of a Lawrence County woman accused of shooting her boyfriend to death in 2009.
Police say Susan May stood over Jason Joy and shot him a total of eight times.
Before the shooting had occurred, a witness at the scene reported hearing May say, "You're not going to threaten my kid anymore."
Following the shooting May called 911 stating, "I just shot somebody and I want to tell the truth."
May's attorney John Plummer III plans on presenting an insanity defense, telling jurors that May was a victim of domestic violence and had a long history of mental health problems.
