Join 1340 AM WBIW at 4:30pm on February 21st and February 23rd at the Bedford Middle School Schafer Auditorium (1501 “N” Street) to watch the 2011 Lawrence County Spelling Bee LIVE in person!
On Monday, February 21st, participating Elementary Schools in the county will send their Elementary School Champions to compete for the Elementary Spelling Bee Championship.
Then on Wednesday, February 23rd, the Elementary Spelling Bee Champion will join the participating Middle School contestants from all over the county, to compete in the overall county competition. Those students will then compete to become the Lawrence County Spelling Bee Champion who will represent our community at the Regional Spelling Bee in Louisville, KY.

1340 AM WBIW invites friends, family and other members of the community to come out each day to support our local youth. These kids have worked hard to continue their education and need your support at this event. The event is FREE to the general public and the contest begins promptly at 4:30pm. The event will be over at the conclusion of the trophy ceremony once a winner is determined.

Congratulations to Jathan Howe! Jathan, a 5th grader at Shawswhick Elementary, is the 2011 WBIW Lawrence County Spelling Bee Champion of Day 1. Jathan will return to the Schaffer Auditorium Wednesday, February 23rd, to compete against the middle school bee finalists for the Overall Championship of the 2011 Lawrence County Spelling Bee. Jathan will be a guest on the Super Oldies morning show! Tune in your radios to 105.5 to hear Jathan talk about his spelling bee experience. Jathan will receive a certificate, WBIW Spelling Bee tee shirt, a trophy and a coin collection donated by Bedford Federal for his Day 1 Championship.
All participants will receive a certificate and tee shirt. The top 3 finishers will also receive a trophy. Please refer to the list below to find out your schools spelling bee participants ranking.
