(UNDATED) - The Indiana National Guard is on alert as the state braces for what’s described as a “potentially catastrophic” snow and ice storm.
Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman says the guard has pre-positioned troops in some areas to be ready to rescue stranded motorists, clear downed trees, or otherwise respond to the storm.
Governor Daniels says he's conferred by phone with Indiana utilities and with emergency management directors in all 92 counties to make sure they're ready for the storm.
