(STATEHOUSE) - The Governor’s Council on Impaired & Dangerous Driving along with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute are urging fans to play it safe this Super Bowl weekend by designating a sober driver if they plan to drink.
In 2009, two-thirds of the fatal collisions that occurred in Indiana over Super Bowl weekend involved an impaired driver.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says Super Bowl Sunday is one of the nation's most dangerous days to travel due to impaired driving.
Officials are reminding sports fans to designate your sober driver before the game begins and give that person your car keys and stop serving or consuming alcohol at the end of the third quarter.
