(WASHINGTON, IN) - High water and levee failure continue to be major concerns in Western Central Daviess County.
49 families were asked to evacuate the affected area in the Maysville area Friday to the west of the city of Washington.
The evacuations were recommended as officials made a cut in the levee to avoid a more serious problem.
No homes have been reported damaged but the levee break has caused about 11,000 acres of farmland in Western Daviess County to flood over the past week.
The reason for the original break is unknown and is still being investigated.
