(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Indiana University is preparing to offer voluntary retirement packages to thousands of employees.
A university official says up to three-thousand workers could be eligible.
The buyout package is expected to be offered to the employees in the next month.
The plan will affect workers on all eight I.U. campuses and the package is expected to include some salary and health care coverage considerations.
The buyouts would eventually save I.U. money on salary and benefits.
If the offer is presented, workers who choose to accept it would end their employment at the university by the end of the fiscal year, which wraps up June 30th.
