(STATEHOUSE) - An Indiana Senate Committee endorses a house bill to ban texting while driving by a 7-2 vote.
The measure, sponsored by Rep. Eric Koch, makes it illegal to use a telecommunications device to type, send, or read a text message while operating a vehicle.
Violators could be issued a traffic ticket with a fine up to $500 dollars.
