(ORLEANS, IN) - Due to the continual flooding situation in Orleans the Dogwood Festival Parade scheduled for this coming Saturday, May 7 has been cancelled.
Festival organizers, town officials and emergency personnel made the decision late Thursday afternoon.
A brief recognition ceremony is being planned for 2:00PM on the Main Street Stage instead of the Saturday event.
Substantial property damage including at least one home's foundation that has collapsed is being reported on the north end of Highway 37 in Orleans near Hall Brothers.
Officials say that the damage may have been caused by trucks and other traffic disregarding barricaded areas and driving through the flooded roadway, sending waves of water into homes further damaging them.
All Dogwood Festival events remain as planned, weather permitting.
