(UNDATED) - Late Wednesday evening, May 25th, new waves of thunderstorms and strong winds once again knocked down power lines around much of the service territory of Jackson REMC, and Especially across Lawrence, Jackson, and Jennings Counties.
Approximately 2200 services lost power with approximately 400 still out as of Thursday, 4:45pm. The restoration work has proceeded well, but will extend into Friday, particularly for the tornado-damaged area along U.S. Highway 50 in Lawrence County, which could run into Saturday.
Many Thanks to the outside crews from Boone County and Carroll County in northern Indiana, who have joined in the effort to restore service as quickly as possible.
Please do not go near any downed power lines, and keep away from any trees and limbs that are in contact with power lines. Always consider any downed line to be hot and dangerous.
