(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Missing I.U. student Lauren Spierer was allegedly at Kilroy’s Bar in Bloomington the night she vanished.
While police are still piecing together what may or may not have happened, the incident raises questions about underage drinking.
Indianapolis Clinical Physiologist Dr. Greg Sipes about how our brains function differently when were young.
Sipes says our brains aren't fully developed until we're 25 years old.
He says auto insurance rates don't usually drop until after 25 years of age.
That's the age when our "better judgment" starts to develop.
Sipes also says raging hormones and the desire to satisfy impulses combined with drug and alcohol use can often lead to disaster.
However, Sipes does say that bravado and impulses often found in youth can be important traits for survival.
