(ORLEANS, IN) - The town of Orleans has been awarded a major grant and a loan from the United States Department of Agriculture’s Office of Rural Development.
Orleans Clerk-Treasurer Robert Henderson says that the money will be used to address the town's aging and deteriorating sewer system.
The town will receive a $1,496,000 grant from the USDA and has also been approved for a long-term loan of $5,304,000.
The current sewer system within the city dates back about 80 years and has not been improved in 20 years.
