(WASHINGTON, DC) - Two Congressmen on opposite sides of the aisle introduced a bill Wednesday that they say will protect jobs and economic growth in northwest Indiana.
The measure authored by Democrat Pete Visclosky and Republican Mike Pence is identical to one introduced in the senate by Republicans Dan Coats and Richard Lugar.
It would require the army corps of engineers to work with local, state and federal agencies and stakeholders to prepare a comprehensive economic impact statement before any major federal action that could affect commercial activity in the Chicago Area Water System.
