(UNDATED) - Most people are familiar with winter depression or the winter blues, clinically referred to as seasonal affective disorder.
But, mental health officials say summer depression, known as summer sad, exists as well.
Amy Tobias with Mental Health America of Greater Indianapolis says summertime depression is the polar opposite to winter depression, especially in symptoms.
Some researchers believe summer depression is caused by too much sunlight, high temperatures, humidity and a change in our metabolism.
Others believe it's related to a lack of structure and high expectation.
