(UNDATED) - The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for the listening area.
Very hot temperatures and high humidity returns to the listening area this afternoon.
High temperatures today will be around 95 and high humidity will cause heat index values to rise to 100 to 104 degrees this afternoon.
Thunderstorms will develop late this afternoon which may bring an end to the very hot conditions.
If you are outside this afternoon, drink plenty of liquids and avoid staying out in the sunshine for a long period of time.
There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms late this afternoon, and early tonight.
The most likely time for severe thunderstorms will be between 4 pm and 11 pm as a cold front moves into our area.
The main threat will be damaging winds and large hail.
