(UNDATED) - Help is available to unemployed Hoosier homeowners who may be finding it difficult to manage their mortgage expenses while seeking new job opportunities.
Two new programs, Indiana's Hardest Hit Fund and the Unemployment Bridge Program, are now being offered by the Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Network.
They provide assistance in paying mortgage and related expenses for those who are unemployed through no fault of their own.
Applicants must meet three requirements, own only one home and currently reside in that home, qualify for unemployment benefits; and participate in approved job training, education, volunteer activities or counseling.
Assistance provided by these programs is considered a loan to be repaid by homeowners who sell properties before a specified 10-year forgiveness period expires and if sufficient equity exists.
Homeowners may apply for help online by visiting www.877gethope.org
