(MARTINSVILLE) - There’s more controversy in the case of a Martinsville teenager serving 35 years in the shooting of a young rival.
Morgan County Prosecutor Steve Sonnega says 16-year-old Michael Phelps' past behavior and threats he made behind bars show he poses a serious threat to the community.
Sonnega is preparing for a pre-trial hearing in yet another case that involves seven more charges. The latest charges stem from statements and threats authorities say Phelps made in jail.
