(MITCHELL) - This weekend campers at Spring Mill State Park will be trying to outdo each other in the park’s annual Autumn Harvest Campsite decorating contest.
Mark Young, Spring Mill property manager, said more than 2,500 people attend every year.
Young says, "the camp sites for this weekend are filled even before the major camping holidays like Fourth of July and Labor Day. The campers really have fun with this."
The public can view the campsites Saturday from 7-9 p.m. Roads in the campground will close at 5:30 p.m.
The decorating contest started as a way for the park to show its appreciation to campers, Young says.
Prizes will be awarded in three categories.
Another big event for the park is the Haunted Village which is set for Oct. 8 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The Haunted Village is set for Oct. 8, 7:30-10 p.m.
