(BEDFORD) - Marla Jones who works for the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council has been chosen to participate in the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series.
The class promotes Hoosier Republican women in elected and appointed governmental and political positions at local, state and federal levels.
Jones was among 22 women from 15 different Indiana counties chosen to participate in the series.
Participants will receive specialized training in preparation to serve in key governmental an political positions. The Council is a not-for-profit organization funded and operated by the voluntary contributions of individuals and organizations committed to increasing the leadership of women in politics and government.
In the 22 years the program has been offered to Hoosier women, several from Lawrence County have been accepted into the program: Judge Andrea McCord, Beth Snead, former Lawrence County Commissioner Janie Craig Chenault, Lawrence County Prosecutor Michelle Woodward and Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman.
