(BROWNSTOWN) - Brownstown Exchange Club has several events going on during Brownstown MelonFest being held this weekend.
Members are selling chances for a whole, processed hog that will be given away Saturday evening during the MelonFest. Tickets are available from any member, Brownstown Greenhouse, The Jackson County Banner office, Family Drug and Michie's Diner.
On Saturday, the club will stage its annual MelonFest 5K Run/Walk starting at 8 a.m. at Jackson County Park, two blocks east of Main and Walnut streets. Check-in and late registration will start at 7 a.m. at the shelterhouse. Pre-registration can be done on line at indianatiming.com or brownstownexchangeclub.org. It is a certified course and is part of the Crossroads of Indiana Race series.
The club will also continue its annual tradition of passing out American flags during the MelonFest parade Saturday afternoon as part of its "Give a Kid A Flag to Wave" program.
