(BEDFORD) - The cause of a house fire at 701 V Street has been listed as undetermined.
Bedord Fire Investigator David Wright was at the scene most of the day Thursday.
"There was extensive damage to the structure," said Bedford Fire Chief Jon Wagner "When there is that much damage it is difficult to determine exactly what happened."
Wright did search the house for any accelerants that may have caused the fire and none were found. No foul play is suspected, Wagner said.
"This was a difficult fire," Wagner said. "The homes are so close together on V Street, this could have been a disaster. Firefighters did a great job controlling the blaze and minimizing the damage to the adjacent homes."
Firefighters arrived on the scene at 12:15 a.m. to flames coming out of the roof and all sides of house. They battled the blaze for 20 minutes.
Stephanie Mills, who rents the property from Rick Brown, escaped without injury.
The homes, north and south of 701 V Street, had superficial damage to siding and windows, Wagner said.
