(Bloomfield)- The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to temporarily stop traffic on U.S. 231 in Greene County at times next week.
INDOT said on Sept. 7 and Sept. 8 traffic would be stopped intermittently near the Ind. 58 intersection. It is anticipated four stoppages will take place each day, one lasting more than 15 minutes.
Traffic will be stopped to allow bridge beams to be delivered and set for the new bridge for the U.S. 231 interchange with I-69.
All lanes will be stopped in each direction as the beams are off-loaded from the trucks and sat on piers, said INDOT district spokesperson Cher Elliott.
Local law enforcement will be on site to aid in traffic control. Inclement weather can postpone the stoppages, Elliott said.
