(MITCHELL) -16-year-old Emily Ann Karr is the new reigning Queen of the 65th Annual Persimmon Festival in Mitchell.
Karr was crown Monday night, after competing against 22 other young ladies. Judges looked at the girl's speaking skills, poise and personalities.
Karr, a junior at Mitchell High School is the daughter of Shawn and Melody Karr.
Karr is involved in the Fresh Start mentoring program; treasurer of SADD and a member of the art club. She is a member of inaugural junior varsity soccer team and in her third year on the varsity golf team.
Karr was awarded the National Mathematics Achievement Award for 2009-10 and 2010-11 school years and has been on the Highest Distinction Honor Roll. She has been a member of the 4-H Beef Club for five years and a Junior Leaders for three years. She is a member of the First Christian church of Mitchell and is active in the youth program. Her sponsor is Phi Beta Psi.

Princess Addyson Marie Hardman, 17, a junior at Mitchell High School, is the daughter of Mat and Cheryl Hardman. Addyson is a varsity cheer squad and dance team member. She likes to draw, paint and sing. She is a member of Tulip Street Christian Church and the youth group. Addyson plans to attend college and major in psychology or interior design. Her sponsor was Jenny Day Photography.
Princess Allison Trevithick, 17, a senior at Mitchell High School, is the daughter of Tim and Paula Trevithick. Allison is a member of Student Council, a Key Club board member, a Fresh Start peer leader and will be a 10-year- 4-H member this July. Allison plays varsity basketball, volleyball and runs track. Her sponsor was Tri Kappa.
Princess Grace Ellen Armstrong, 17, a senior at Mitchell High School, is the daughter of DeAnne Wade and Gary Armstrong. Grace is a member of SADD, Science club, Tri-HI-Y, Spanish Club, Student Council and the National Honor Society. Grace is the manager for the high school wrestling team and works part-time at the Great Wall Chinese restaurant. After graduation she plans to attend Purdue University and earn a degree in pharmacology.
Princess Jocelyn Eva Schlegel, 16, a junior at Mitchell High School, is the daughter of Vicky Schlegel. Jocelyn is active in volleyball and track. She earned all-conference for track two years in a row. She is on Student Council, a member of SADD, French Club and Tri-Hi-Y. She enjoys participating in her church youth club. Her sponsor is Insight Optical.
Princess Morgan Kay Hall, 17, a senior at Mitchell High School, is the daughter of Joe and Missy Hall. Morgan is a varsity cheerleader, a member of the golf team and a sprinter on the girl's track team. She is an exploratory teacher and loves her fourth grade class. After graduation, she plans to attend college and study dermatology. Her sponsor is Groomingdales.
Princess Sutton Nichelle Roach, 18, is a senior at Mitchell High School, she is the daughter of Angela Wilson and Mike Roach. She is class vice president, president of Key Club, senior advisor for Student council and co-editor of the year book. She is a four-year member and co-captain of the MHS varsity Dance Team. Sutton is a lifeguard at Spring Mill State Park. She attended the Indiana Youth Tour to Washington D.C. and also a Girls State Delegate. She plans to attend either Duke University or Vanderbilt University to major in communications and broadcasting. Her sponsor is SICIL Home Care Services
Miss Congeniality was awarded to 17-year-old Casey England.
Casey is the daughter of Jason and Kutina England and Stacy Sauer. She is a senior at Mitchell High School. She is captain of the Mitchell High School Elite Dance Team and a member of the National Honor Society and a recipient of the Scholastic M. She has participated in art club, Spanish club and SADD where she received the Julia Lessig Character Award. She plans to pursue an Academic Honors diploma and to attend Indiana University.
