Lights To Shine For Missing IU Student

(BLOOMINGTON) - The family of missing IU student Lauren Spierer will host a free concert with the theme “Shine” on September 22, will keep a stoplight on her case. Lauren has been missing for four months.

The Spierer family will join IU students and the Bloomington community for a ceremonial walk at 6:20 p.m. and then the free concert, Shine:Light Up Dunn Meadow for Lauren at 7 p.m.

Anyone planning to attend is encouraged to wear blue, in a show of solidarity for the continuing search, and to come prepared to participate in a ceremony by shining a light at the end of the concert, when a single lantern will be released into the sky.

IU men's basketball coach Tom Crean and area radio personality Matt Thiel will emcee the event, and performers will include Clayton Anderson, Dot Dot Dot, as well as Daniel Weber and Brice Fox.

Attendees are also encouraged to tweet about the event with the hash tag #Shine4Lauren.

Several speakers are scheduled to attend, including rabbis from Bloomington and Lauren's hometown and a representative of the Episcopal Campus Ministry.

Campus safety representatives will be distributing safety information, and free food will also be provided.
