(BROWN COUNTY) - 28-year-old Jaacob Vanwinkle was arrested Saturday after Johnson County police used dogs and infrared equipment to find him in the woods in Brown County.
He was arrested on parole violations and police want to question him about a dead body that was found in a home he shared in Whiteland. The man who owns the house is 50-year-old Michael Eaton and he was reported missing September 12.
Police went to the home at 510 Green Springs Drive Friday after neighbors complained of a foul odor. Police discovered a body in the bedroom buried under clothing and other debris.
Vanwinkle was found after his parents told police they were going to the woods taking their son food.
According to family members, Vanwinkle told them he did find the dead body in the house, but he didn't know who killed the person. He also admitted to moving the body and burying it inside the house under clothes and blankets.
An autopsy of the body was performed Saturday afternoon, but no positive identification or cause of death was determined, according to police.
Officials will use both fingerprints and dental records to identify the body and toxicology results to figure out what caused the death.
Police say Vanwinkle was convicted of child molestation and was released from prison in 2008. He was wanted on a warrant for parole violations in relation to that conviction. He is also facing possible charges of moving and covering up a dead body.
