(CRANE) - The Navy secretary told workers at Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center that he expected a strong future for the Southern Indiana installation.
The Herald-Times reports Navy Secretary Ray Mabus visited the base Tuesday and toured the base's operations.
Mabus said that Crane's 3,000 workers have made the base essential and the kind of operation that he will support amid expected military budget cuts.
