(GREENE COUNTY) - A 40-year-old Newberry man has been arrested on theft and drug-related charges.
Donald Richie Rollins faces preliminary charges of burglary; possession of and reckless possession of paraphernalia.
Rollins was arrested on September 2 and Greene Superior Court Judge Dena Martin approved charges on Wednesday. He is being held in the Greene County Jail on a $16,000 bond.
Rollins was arrested when police went to investigate a suspicious vehicle near several vacant mobile homes in the area of Radar Road in Center Township.
Rollins told police he had permission from the owner to "strip out the trailer."
According to a probable cause affidavit, Rollins had removed some curtain rods and a ceiling fan and had cut wiring to the outlet. He told police he intended to sell it.
Police confiscated a hammer, gloves and a bolt cutter at the scene.
When police arrested Rollins they found a glass smoking pipe and a small quantity of marijuana that had been stuffed into a cigarette pack.
Safeguard Properties, the owner of the property, told police the property had been vacant since August 10, 2009. Company representative had been at the site about a month ago and there was nothing missing from the residence, according to court records.
