(SEYMOUR) - Two Austin residents have been arrested in connection with a robbery in the parking lot of a Seymour business, police said.
Mitchell Huff and his wife, Rebecca Huff, both 33, were arrested Thursday night. The Huffs are accused of beating a man with a baseball bat and robbing him outside of Brewskies Grub and Pub, on the city's east side, on June 24.
Police used security video from Brewskies as well as video footage from a nearby business to help identify Mitchell Huff, says Detective Captain Carl Lamb with Seymour Police Department.
Police say Rebecca Huff was driving the car and Mitchell Huff approached the man, who is from Northern Indiana, and hit him several time with a ball bat. Huff did not know the man he attacked. Police say he was looking for an "easy target". The Huffs got away with a small amount of cash, Lamb said.
The injured man was taken to Schneck Medical Center with head and back injuries, Lamb said.
Mitchell Huff was charged with robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, an A felony charge punishable by 20 to 50 years in prison if convicted. He also faces a B felony charge of aggravated battery, which carries a sentence of six to 20 years in prison. He could also be charged with being a habitual offender.
Rebecca Huff faces one A felony charge of robbery with a deadly weapon.
The Huffs were booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown and are being held on $100,005 bonds each.
