(SPRINGVILLE) - An arrest warrant was issued for a contractor who didn’t complete a roofing job.
Greene County Police are looking for Gerald "Jerry" Rippy. He is being charged with theft, a class D felony.
Springville resident Paul McArtor paid Rippy $1,900 on July 19 to purchase shingles at Menards in Bloomington to roof his home.
Rippy cashed McArtor's check and purchased 28 bundles of shingles, according to the probably cause affidavit filed in Greene County Circuit Court.
Greene county Sheriff's Department Deputy Heath Murray says that is only half the amount of singles needed to roof McArtor's house.
Murray has talked to former employees and they have not worked for Rippy in four to six months. Police have also talked to Rippy's wife and she says the couple has filed for divorce and she has not talked to her estranged husband in weeks. Rippy's parents told police they have not seen their son either. Police have called Rippy's phone but it has been disconnected.
But Rippy has contacted McArtor. Rippy told McArtor he had $1,000 and wanted to complete the job and have the charges dropped. However McArtor doesn't want Rippy doing the job and wants his $1,900 back and wants to pursue criminal charges.
