(HELTONVILLE) - A 42-year-old woman is in serious condition with head injuries after being hit by an SUV Sunday night.
Indiana State Police say 42-year-old Wendy Scherschel, of 1963 Little Salt Creek Road, was walking west on Pleasant Run Road when she was hit by an SUV driving by 37-year-old Lyn Anderson, of 689 West Pleasant Run Road.
The accident happened around 6 p.m. Anderson told police she was driving west on Pleasant Run Road and didn't see Scherschel walking along the roadway because the setting sun was glaring in her windshield.
Scherschel was hit with the right-front corner of the SUV, according to police reports.
Scherschel was taken to IU Bedford Health Hospital and flown by helicopter to the Louisville Hospital.
