(UNDATED) - A decomposed body found in a field in Bloomington, Illinois, is not that of missing IU student Lauren Spierer.
McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling says the woman's remains were found Monday afternoon in some brush near a harvested cornfield. She says the body had been in the field for quite some time.
Bloomington Police Captain Joe Qualters says the department has been in contact with police in Illinois and says there does not appear to be any connection to the Spierer case.
Authorities plan to use dental records and DNA tests to determine identity of the woman.
The body didn't show any obvious signs of trauma. An autopsy is planned.
