(CRANE) - State Representative Mark Messmer of Jasper says Crane’s partnership with state universities and their support of small businesses have had a positive impact on Indiana’s economy.
Last week the Crane Naval Warfare Center hosted an interim study committee on economic development at the naval base.
Discussions were about the many technological transfers currently in the works at Crane with multiple organizations across the state.
These technology transfers include research and development projects with state universities as well as partnerships with small businesses that create high-tech products and promote economic development across the state, according Messer.
Universities included are Purdue University's research on market analysis, a military to market program led by Ball State and work on additional business studies by the University of Southern Indiana.
Messmer says in addition to university collaborations, Crane has set up PIA's, (Partnership Intermediary Agreements) that support not for profits that are owned or operated in part by the government.
These study committees gather a lot information that will help promote those partnerships, and bring further recognition to the state's universities, small businesses and also to Crane in leading the way of creating high-tech, high-paying jobs.
