(BROWNSTOWN) - Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center housed an average of 12 youths in August, according to Executive Director John Long’s monthly report.
The high count was 19 and the low was seven.
Four counties, Jefferson, Jennings, Lawrence and Scott, paid Jackson County $39,600 for housing juveniles from those counties in recent months, and Jackson County billed those same four counties $32,135.71 for housing juveniles during August.
Those funds are deposited in the county general fund.
The cost to operate the center in August was $47,513.42, including $36,624.61 in salaries and benefits. The county also is expected to receive $1,476 from the state Department of Education for August meal reimbursement.
For the year, the county has $233,800 in receipts for housing out-of-county juveniles.
