(PAOLI) - Donna Carlisle, who organizes periodic gatherings for sending packages to men and women in the military, reports the annual Christmas box party will be Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Paoli High School.
The boxes go to soldiers with Orange County connections.
Volunteers are welcome to help pack the boxes.
Items are still needed for the packages. She is accepting donations of toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, body wash, Q-tips, baby wipes, bath soap and mouthwash. Homemade cookies and snacks also are needed, along with hand warmers, white socks, books and magazines. Christmas cards with messages also are encouraged so soldiers will know they are not forgotten.
Donations can be left at Donna's office at 513 W. Water St. in Paoli or can be brought to the high school between 5:30 and 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Families of soldiers who have returned home should contact Donna to have those soldiers' names removed from the list. Families of soldiers who have reported for duty in the past few months also should contact Donna with the soldier's address.
Changes in soldiers' addresses also should be reported.
Donna can be reached during daytime hours at (812) 723-0427 or by sending email to
