(BLOOMINGTON) - Excise officers issued 64 tickets and jailed 11 people during Indiana’s football game against Penn State in Bloomington Saturday afternoon.
Among those arrested were seven people for public intoxication and three adults for providing alcoholic beverages to minors. Forty-five people were cited for illegal possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages.
A 19-year-old female was taken to the hospital after testing a blood alcohol content of .29 on a portable breath test. She was checked at IU Health Bloomington Hospital before being jailed for illegal consumption and public intoxication and public nudity.
"Once again, we witnessed an underage person who consumed alcohol in amounts that were hazardous to her - requiring a hospital visit," says Superintendent Matt Strittmatter s "This is another example of the dangerous practice of binge drinking."
Those cited will appear in Monroe Circuit Court in November.
"State Excise officers will continue to regulate the distribution of alcohol at athletic and other events to ensure the safety of students," Strittmatter said.
