Linton High School On Alert After Threat

Last updated on Wednesday, October 19, 2011

(LINTON) - Linton-Stockton High School remained in session Tuesday even though a student found a threat written on a bathroom stall Friday. Police are not saying what the threat was, but that it was to happen Tuesday. Police were at the school Tuesday.

The threat was found Friday by a student and turned into school officials, then they turned the information over to police who are investigating.

School officials said it was in the best interest of the students to stay in school. School officials notified parents Monday afternoon by telephone and text about the threat.

There was no one person named in the threat, and no specific time given that the threat would be carried out, but school officials say they take all threats seriously.
Students were allowed to change classes yesterday, but once in class they were asked to stay. Students were only allowed to leave in case of an emergency and then students were escorted.

Police are asking teachers, parents and students if they hear anything or see anything suspicious to report it.

Those caught making threats of violence could face suspension, expulsion or criminal charges.
