(LINTON) - 20-year-old Nelson L. Perez, of Linton, was arrested after police made a routine traffic stop on Saturday night.
Perez was hiding in the back of a pickup truck.
Linton Police Officer Chad Crynes said he stopped the S-10 pickup truck for an equipment violation near the corner of Second Street and West Vincennes Street.
That is when he found Perez hiding in the bed of the truck with a shirt covering his head. Crynes asked Perez repeatedly to get out of the truck and he refused. Police then removed Perez from the truck and found he had been drinking. Perez failed a field sobriety test and a breath test. He was more than three-times the legal limit for intoxication, police say.
He was arrested and charged with public intoxication, resisting law enforcement and illegal consumption.
