(LOOGOOTEE) - Loogootee taxpayers are savings thousands of dollars this year due to policy changes concerning delinquent utility customers.
Mayor Don Bowling said the city had written off about $30,000 in delinquent utility payments since 2000, which is an average of $3,000 annually.
He says the only write-offs allowed in the future would be due to a bankruptcy, a settlement of an estate after a death or if the amount was less than $5.
