(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man and woman were arrested after they led police on a pursuit early this morning.
26-year-old Anthony Burns, of 522 East View Drive, was charged with burglary. 26-year-old Crystal Potter, of the same address, was charged with burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of marijuana under 30 grams.Other charges are pending and the case is under investigation. They are accused of taking items from Long's Landing
Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley says officers were at a home on Norton Lane at a domestic disturbance when one of the officers noticed a suspicious vehicle with its lights off at the dead-end of T Street. When the officer went to investigate the driver, Burns, sped away. Burns drove through the fence at Cosner's Ice Company and back onto N Street. Another officer picked up the vehicle on Norton Lane that is when Burns drove through 4 backyards and into the parking lot of Garden Villa and then back east on Norton Lane. Officers had Norton Lane blocked with their cruisers, so Burns went south onto T Street and drove back through the Cosner's lot and turned east, knocking down the main gate and crashed into a police car. Potter cooperated with police, but Burns had to be removed from the vehicle by force.
Burns did suffer a minor head injury from crashing though the fences at Cosners and was taken to IU Health Bedford for treatment. After being treated officer took him to the police station and Burns tried to escape. As officers were getting him out of the car, he used his shoulder to knock the officers down and ran. Police chased Burns down the alley east of the police station and ordered Burns to stop or they were going to taser him. Burns refused to stop, so he was tasered.
Both Burns and Potter were taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
