(MITCHELL) - The Mitchell Board of Public Works is working on a new rental agreement for the community building.
Clerk-treasurer George James says problems arise when people who rent the building on Saturdays want to decorate on Fridays and the building is rented to another party on Friday nights.
The agreement needs to outline when the parties on Friday will leave the building and the renters for Saturday can have the building to do step up or decorate plus allow time for Steve Dobson to get into the building to clean between events.
James is going to work on the agreement for the city.
Don Renner of Helix Technologies asked the board if he could get a title search on the city-owned industrial park in order for the technology firm to obtain an easement and draw up a lease agreement with the city.
The plan by Helix is to build a 10-foot by 12-foot building inside the fence that surrounds the water tower near 12th and Brook streets, so they can store electronic equipment that is needed to operate its satellite Internet service. It uses the water towers to get a broader coverage area, and in return, the company will provide the city with free Internet service.
In other business James told the board he sent out the bid notices for the city's annual gravel, gas, chemicals and other supply contracts. The bids are due back by 10 a.m. on Dec. 13 and will be awarded that afternoon.
