(BEDFORD) - Bedford police are looking for a man who led them on a pursuit before crashing his car and running from the scene.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Bedford police got a call reporting a male driver was possibly intoxicated and acting suspicious.
Police found a white 2001 Pontiac Grand Am and attempted to pull the driver over at U.S. 50 and State Road 37. Officers say the driver accelerated going west to Fayetteville. The driver lost control of the Grand Am, went down an embankment and hit a tree.
By the time officers reached the car, the driver had ran from the crash. Bedford police along with Lawrence County and Greene County deputies searched the area a couple hours without finding the driver.
The car was towed, and officers are working to find its owner as well as the driver. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bedford Police Department.
