(CRAWFORD COUNTY) - Authorities are searching for 25-year-old Kevin Eve. Eve is feared lost somewhere in the caves of Southern Indiana.
His car was found this week in a remote area of Crawford County near the Harrison Crawford State Forest.
Eve is a cave enthusiast who knows what he's doing, but he didn't tell anyone where he was going this past weekend, according to conservation officers.
Officers are hoping he just lost track of time and will show up. Eve's cave exploring gear was found at his home, so he may have been hiking. Eve was unlikely to explore a cave alone.
The Georgetown, Indiana native was last seen in Corydon on Saturday. His car was discovered Monday morning on a stretch of road in the Harrison-Crawford State Forest, but Eve was nowhere to be found.
Indiana Conservation Officer Cora Showalter says they are at a loss at where to search, because Eve didn't tell anyone where he was going.
Showalter says the area near where the car was found has been searched extensively.
Volunteer firefighters and friends of the family have walked miles of woodland, but there is an overwhelming amount of land to cover. The area being searched is heavily wooded and covers two counties.
A cave team has also been searching, but there are so many sink holes and cave to be searched and that takes time, said Showalter. About 200 acres and around 15 caves have been checked so far.
If anyone has any information, they can call the Indiana Department of Natural resources at 812-685-2498.
