(JACKSON COUNTY) - Jackson County Water Utility has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for customers in Jackson and Vernon townships because of an outage that occurred Tuesday.
Customers east of the junction of Indiana 11 and County Road 200 North are affected by the advisory. The affected area includes Oxmoor Estates and Fairview subdivisions and all customers in the Crothersville area with the exception of those inside the town limits.
Water service has been restored to the area, but customers are advised to boil all water "vigorously" for at least five minutes prior to drinking or using for food preparation. The water does not have to be boiled if it is not going to be consumed.
The advisory will remain in effect until the company can confirm, through testing, that bacteria is not present. That testing will be completed within 3 days. Customers will be notified when the water is safe to consume.
For information call the water company office at (812) 358-3654.
