(WORTHINGTON) - Two Worthington men were arrested on drug and firearm charges after a traffic stop Saturday night.
21-year-old Paul McHenry was charged with possession of marijuana with a previous conviction, a Class D felony and possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor charge.
Dustin Abel was charged with possession of a handgun without a permit.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Abel was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Jefferson and Main streets. McHenry was a passenger in the Jeep.
Abel did not have a registration slip or insurance and had a license plate for a Ford Mustang on the Jeep. He also told police he had a handgun in the vehicle. The gun was not loaded, but police did find ammunition for the gun.
While police were talking to Abel, they noticed McHenry trying to hide a felt Crown Royal bag. Police found marijuana in the bag. Police also found a second bag of marijuana in the center counsel of the Jeep and a smoking pipe with marijuana residue on the dashboard.
Both men were released from jail after posting bond.
