(BLOOMFIELD) - 52-year-old Randy Knapp, who is accused of murdering a Solsberry woman now faces charges of battery resulting with bodily injury after a fight with another inmate in the Greene County jail.
He is accused of punching inmate Allen Kirkley in the back of the head from behind as he was returning to his cell after placing a meal tray in a designation area after breakfast, according to a probable cause affidavit.
After reviewing a video recording of the A-block cell area and police say Knapp ran up the stairs, went into Kirkley's cell, hit him and ran back down stairs and sat at a table. Knapp denies the attack.
Knapp was charged August 30th with the bludgeoning death of 28-year-old Stacey Jo Lawson. 45-year-old Kirkley, Lyons was arrested in late October and charged with child molesting.
