(BLOOMINGTON) - 26-year-old Michael Angle surrendered at the Monroe County Jail early Tuesday and admitted to the stabbing death of 47-year-old Bedford resident Lauren Kahn.
Bloomington Police say Angle showed up at the Monroe County Jail with his mother and other relatives and told detectives he stabbed Kahn while trying to rob the Garden of Eden. The adult entertainment store is located on South Walnut Street in Bloomington.
Angle and Kahn were the only two people in the store. Angle told police he looked around the store then tried to get Kahn to show him something in the display case. He then pulled a knife from his pocket and started stabbing Kahn.
Police say Angle chased a witness who saw him leave the store and eventually gave up when he couldn't catch the person.
Police were notified about the attack around 10:30 p.m. Monday and Kahn died a short time later at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Officers found the knife in the street near the store.
Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer says Kahn had multiple stab wounds and an autopsy was scheduled in Terre Haute Tuesday afternoon.
Angle was booked into the jail at 1:34 a.m. on preliminary charges of murder and attempted robbery.
