Accused Murder Was Tired Of Being "Broke And Lonely"

Last updated on Friday, November 18, 2011

(BLOOMINGTON) 26-year-old Michael Angle told police he was tired of being broke and was depressed and lonely.

Angle has been charged with the stabbing murder of 47-year-old Lauren Kahn.

Angle turned himself into the Monroe County Jail on Tuesday, just an hour and a half after the attempted robbery and murder at Garden of Eden in Bloomington, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Kahn died in the stabbing attack at the store. Angle said he asked Kahn to show him something in the display case, and then pulled a folding knife out of his pocket and began stabbing her. He stabbed her more than 20 times.

Angle brought bloody clothes with him to the jail when he turned himself in. He also brought his mom and two sisters.

Angle said he planned on taking money from the store, but while walking to the part of the store where money was kept, a person walked in. Angle said he chased the person and never went back for the money.
