(BEDFORD) - AT&T recently announced it was making a $10,000 contribution to the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council to benefit the Area Learning Center.
The grant was written by Assistant Director Marla Jones to support a new technology infrastructure including the installation of wireless Internet and SMART Boards.
Equipment purchased with the AT&T contribution will assist in providing quality instruction for local workforce development. It will provide a foundation for online, web-based and distance learning efforts at the Area Learning Center, allow students to learn computer skills, interact with current technologies and assist them in pursuing higher education or training to re-enter the workforce.
The Area Learning Center hosts classes for Ivy Tech and is located, along with Oakland City University-Bedford, in the historic Indiana Limestone Company building at 405 I St.
