(BLOOMFIELD) - 49-year-old Debra Lane was arrested after she stole a 4G iPhone off the counter of the Dollar General Store in Linton.
Tim Abbott had been shopping at the store and was checking out when he placed his phone on the counter. When he picked up his bags he forgot the phone. Abbott drove away and then realized his phone was missing and went back to the store.
The cashier pointed to Lane, who checked out behind Abbott. Abbott confronted Lane in the parking lot and during the incident, Lane denied taking the phone. Shortly thereafter, Abbott wrote down Lane's license plate number and called police.
Police questioned Lane on Nov. 14th and she admitted to stealing the phone and pulled the phone from her purse and wanted to return it to the owner.
She told police she couldn't afford it, but wanted one and that's why she took it. Lane was released from jail after posting $4,000 bond. Her initial hearing was set for 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 2.
