(BLOOMINGTON) - A pizza delivery driver has died after being shot.
Bloominton Police say 22-year-old Adam Sarnecki of Bloomington was shot outside the Pizza X store at 2443 South Walnut just after midnight Friday morning. He was taken by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington, where he died around 4:40 a.m.
Sarnecki told the first arriving officers that as he was returning after a delivery, he saw the back of a man breaking into other employees' cars in the parking lot. That's when he confronted the man, who turned and shot him.
The suspect, a white male, fled into the wooded area just behind the store. Sarnecki was able to enter the store and call for help.
Two men were found in two separate places near the area. They were taken to the police station and cooperated in interviews before being released. A police canine followed a track to the Winslow Courts area but did not locate a suspect.
Detectives and officers gathered evidence and will continue investigating. Any one with information is asked to call Bloomington police.
An autopsy will be conducted this afternoon.
