(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Commissioners approved corrections to the precinct boundaries and sent notice to the Indiana Election Division.
Shawswick 15 was split into Shawswick A and Shawswick B The boundary line is South I Street and Palestine Road. Shawswick A, east of the line, will be under Commissioner Chris May and Shawswick B, west of the line, under Commissioner Dave Flinn.
In other business:
J Barker Engineering was awarded the contract to repair bridge #20 on Old Ind. 37, north of Needmore. They had the lowest bid of $83,000. County projects manager Bob Dillon, told commissioners repairs on the William's covered bridge should begin sometime in February.
Sheriff Sam Craig asked if the commissioners received the asbestos report back from the old courthouse annex building on I Street. Craig would like to have the building tore down, so in the future a building could be built and used for a work release program at the jail. Auditor Billie Tumey says she has called the firm and they have not returned her calls or sent the report. Without the information, commissioners don't know how much was found and what the cost will be to remove the asbestos.
